Artificial Intelligence in Production Systems and Integration with Lean Manufacturing

The use of artificial intelligence has become very popular due to the increasing technological activities in the manufacturing sector. It is critical not only to create solutions to problems but also to make these solutions much faster and more applicable. Artificial intelligence makes it simple to find solutions to problems that may arise during production. Problems can even be prevented with foresight before they occur. Companies that focus on efficiency-related studies first start to implement lean manufacturing studies. Lean manufacturing systems were first implemented by the Japanese. It starts with the detection of wastes in the system and determines the points that can be improved. Improvements are made using methods/techniques such as Kaizen, Heijunka, Yamazumi, Single-Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), Kanban and Poka-Yoke. However, even if it is common for many companies, specific applications are carried out for each company/process. The incorporation of artificial intelligence becomes more important at this time. Lean manufacturing applications will become faster and easier to use by utilizing artificial intelligence. This study aims to demonstrate the usability of artificial intelligence in production systems. Discussions on what kind of contributions it can make will be presented.
