Women and Christianity

Christianity is a global religion. The strong missionary movement has brought diverse communities around the world to reflect their common beliefs about Jesus, whom adherents believe to be the Son of God, in a variety of ways. Music, stories and rituals reflect time and place. This chapter is based largely in the Canadian context and shows how the 1960s feminist movement has given women voice in theology and leadership. With stories given depth by scholarship, it discusses steps forward, and ways that women continue to experience marginalization and challenges.
