Analysis of Hole Quality of Copper Oxide Nanostructured CFRP Composite
摘要
Many sectors currently make substantial use of carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites due to their lightweight and high strength. There are various types of research on making nanostructured composites for further enhancing the mechanical properties of composites. Nanostructured composites show higher tensile strength, shear, and impact strength as compared to plain CFRP composites. CFRP composites are difficult to machine. Adding nanostructures can enhance its machinability. This paper proposes to do an analysis of the machinability of CuO-nanostructured carbon fiber-reinforced polymer composite. Micro-drilling operation has been performed using a semi-high-speed micro machining center. A drill bit of 400-micron diameter has been used. The spindle speed of 20,000 is taken, and feed rates of 1,3,5 mm/min are taken. Analysis of the hole quality after machining is done. Delamination damage, fiber pullout, wall straightness, burrs, and roundness are taken into consideration. Comparison has been made with CFRP composites.
