Life Cycle Assessment of Electrocoagulation Pilot Unit for Dairy Wastewater Treatment
摘要
The dairy industry is one of the most wastewaters generating industry in terms of volume as well as its characteristics. Conventionally, biological effluent treatment plant is employed in dairy plant, and after treatment, water is discharged in open water bodies. The electrocoagulation (EC) process is alternative to treat wastewater having benefit less foot print, economical and less sludge generation. To understand the environmental impact of this EC process in application of dairy industry, the life cycle assessment (LCA) tool is used. This tool can provide some insight into this new modification in terms of environmental impact, and it can be used in decision-making. In this work, the LCA of EC is performed to determine the performance and environmental impact of the system in dairy wastewater. The construction phase analysis is performed to determine the impact during manufacturing of the system.
