Design and Operation of PSFB Converter for Electric Vehicle Application

PSFB is the type of isolated converter which comes under full bridge isolated DC-DC converter topology due to high-rating operation; this is the best-suited isolated DC-DC converter for electric vehicle applications. In this paper, we will see how the output voltage can be easily varied to the desired value by just changing the phase shift of the diagonal MOSFET situated at the inverter part of the PSFB converter. Electric vehicle power train where we need DC-DC converter in electric vehicles and closed-loop control of PSFB by PI controller are also discussed in the paper. We will also see how the PI controller manages the phase shift of diagonal MOSFETs so that we can get the desired output voltage, and the MATLAB simulation for closed-loop PSFB using the PI controller as feedback is also discussed.
