Power Quality Improvement of a Grid-Connected Wind Farm Using STATCOM and PID Controller
摘要
It is being investigated how a FACTS controller known as the Static Synchronous Compensator STATCOM could be utilized to improve the compatibility of Wind Farms with the power system. The most crucial aspect of STATCOM is its ability to instant, add, or remove reactive power from the power system. So, STATCOM FACTS device can maintain the voltage of the electricity systems. Using a STATCOM controller, a power system with a wind farm can be rendered stable again following a significant change, such as a malfunction or a change in the wind farm’s mechanical power. Using the suggested STATCOM, a dynamic model of the power system including a wind farm is created. A Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) based on a variable-speed dual-feed induction generator and coupled to a lattice is proposed in this research (DFIG). Observe how the wind blows in and out. One of the renewable energy sources is wind energy and is gaining importance in scientific study as existing energy sources reach their limits. However, it has been proven exceedingly difficult to maintain consistent voltage from wind power. Different measures are taken to solve this issue. Connected wind farms were made more stable by reducing voltage fluctuations and utilizing a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) to compensate for reactive power. STATCOM is run by a current control loop with a PID controller. STATCOM is controlled by means of pulse width modulation (PWM). Wind farms with capacitor banks and STATCOM are using STATCOM with proportional integrated derivative controllers which have been used to compare the wind farm’s stability when the wind speed changes. Comparing the findings reveals that STATCOM with PID management has a superior display and is more dependable.
