Improvement of Power Factor and Voltage Quality Event by VSI-Based DVR

摘要

Because of the widespread use of modern sensitive devices, the Power Quality issue is considered critical today. Several voltage and current imbalances affect sensitive loads in industries and utility distribution companies, resulting in significant financial losses. Custom power devices are thus used to improve power quality. To improve power quality, a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) was used. The MATLAB Simulink tool was used to create a Simulink model of a DVR in this paper. Synchronous reference frame theory (SRFT) transformation and hysteresis control are used in the DVR's control. The simulation was performed in MATLAB Simulink, and the results were analyzed and discussed in order to validate this technique for mitigating voltage events, power factor correction of the source, and Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) reduction in the load circuit. In addition, the SRFT control technique was compared to the Unit Vector Template (UVT) controller. The comparative analysis reveals that the SRF-based control technique outperforms the UVT-based control technique.
