Cognitive Relativism in Chinese Lexicon and Their Relevance for the Acquisition of Chinese
摘要
Meaning, not syntax, is central to human communication. Meaning in cognitive semantics derives from subjective construal of reality in different cultural contexts for the purpose of communication. Cognitive relativism is adopted in this chapter to uncover some of the fundamental principles of structuring space, time, entities, and events in Chinese lexicon and their relevance to teaching and learning Chinese.
