Development of Polymer Composites Using Recycled Polymer Waste of Textile Industry: A Review

The use of synthetic fibre has increased exponentially in the textile industry to fabricate textile products. The most common method of synthesis the man-made fibre is melting the thermoplastic polymer followed by drawing and winding. The generation of enormous amounts of waste during the processing of the fibre formation and the end life of the fibre-reinforced polymer composites is a major issue which causes environmental impact. Therefore, it is essential to identify the potential application of waste fibre generated during the composite material development process and the end life of the composite recycling through mechanical and chemical processes. A significant improvement is observed in polymer composites by using this short and continuous waste and recycled fibre. This study presents an extensive review on the work done by various researchers to utilise waste textile fibre to develop composite material for numerous applications.
