Assessment of High Gain Hybrid Converter Fed BLDC Motor Drive for Electric Vehicle

摘要

The lightweight electric vehicles are becoming popular in developing countries. They are powered from limited battery source and are mostly limited to low voltage drives. Due to low voltage and low power, DC motor speed torque characteristics suffers. In this paper, a hybrid DC–DC converter has been proposed that offers high voltage gain. The hybrid topology is integration of boost converter topology with SEPIC converter topology. The proposed converter comprises of a single controllable switch. The proposed converter provides 20 times higher voltage gain at 90% duty ratio with lower voltage stress across the single switch. The design consideration for selecting the circuit element of the hybrid topology has been presented. The analysis of the proposed circuit is been done in continuous conduction mode. Moreover, the characteristics has been verified in simulation platform. The parameters taken into consideration for comparison is the voltage gain in converter, voltage stress across switches, and total harmonic distortion in the output voltage of the converter and electromagnetic torque of brushless DC motor drive.
