Object Identification Robotic Arm Using Image Processing

摘要

Robotic arm using image processing for sorting the object according to their shape is widely used in industries. These applications have as a basis a video camera that captures the images to be processed for either recognition or sorting or for contour coordinates extraction. Based on these captures, the developed program that enable the arm to either sort objects recognized to be having different shapes, or to draw shapes based on the coordinates received. Both the object detection and the contour coordinates extraction methods are implemented using a series of image processing techniques like border extraction, contour detection, contour extraction, along with match template and the aid of OpenCV library. This paper demonstrates the identification of object according to their shape and classify the object as defective and non-defective. Also, a controller that ensures the placing of the object in the concerned packet using the robotic arm.
