New Generation Approaches to Assess Child-Parent Relationships

Instruments used to assess parent–child relationships in vulnerable families need to be multi-dimensional to measure the various issues shown in research to be important in vulnerable families. This chapter reviews ten models of parent–child relationships that have emerged since 2000 and that have produced assessment instruments. The models reviewed are identified as holding promise both for clinical use with vulnerable families and for use when making forensic assessments.
