Therapy Interventions for Vulnerable Families

This volume discusses the need for families, where children are vulnerable, to receive therapy that is targeted to meet the assessed needs of each family. Theoretical approaches adopted by therapists are discussed. The move away from providing therapy that is based on a diagnosis, and a move towards focusing therapy on dysfunctional interactions that occur in a family, is discussed. Parenting practices and dynamics that are more likely to occur in a family where a parent has been diagnosed with a specific mental disorder are discussed. Evidence-based therapies are described. Intervention models that have been used at a local level but are not widely known are described.
