Nanoscale Imaging of Photocatalytic Processes Using Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

摘要

Tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS) is a modern analytical technique that has single molecule sensitivity and sub-nanometer spatial resolution. These unique properties of TERS are based on localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) that are generated at the apex of the metallized scanning probes. Decaying, LSPRs produce hot carriers, highly energetic species that can trigger chemical reactions. Consequently, the scanning probe in TERS can be used to monitor and trigger chemical reactions on the sample of interest. This chapter summarizes the most recent advances in nanoscale imaging of plasmon-driven reactions on mono- and bimetallic nanostructures. It also critically discusses advantages and disadvantages of TERS in plasmon-driven catalysis.
