Microwave-Assisted Catalytic Reactions (MACR)

In Microwave Chemistry, chemical reactions involving solid catalysts can be said to be one of the microwave chemistry methods that can benefit most from microwave heating. Accordingly, this chapter introduces the research position of microwave-assisted catalytic reactions (MACR), together with examining some characteristic reaction cases. Especially interesting at the microscopic scale, the catalyst or clusters are selectively heated by microwaves, which causes the so-formed temperature gradient to be used to drive the chemical reactions. Such microscopic temperature distribution (temperature unevenness) is defined herein as the Microwave Heterogeneous Microscopic Thermal Effect (MHMTE). Moreover, we also introduce the use of microwaves as electromagnetic waves in photocatalytic reactions. As well, we also touch on the synthesis of solid catalysts using microwaves. The Coffee Break section introduces a technology that changes the growth rate and other phenomena of plants by irradiating them with soft microwaves for a short period of time.
