Securing Cyberspace: A Survey on Effective Botnet Detection Strategies

Technology has become an inevitable part of the world. With the luxury of facilities also come complications. One such complication for cybersystems is botnets. Botnets are groups of computers that work together under a master to perform malicious activities. Botnets are difficult to tackle because they are diverse, large in number, and at different or diverse locations. Various studies have been made to solve the issue of botnets, but botnets change their behavior each time, which makes it a big challenge. In this paper, a brief review is made on different approaches which are conventionally used to analyze the existing situation in botnet detection, and also an in-depth study is made on the type of botnets that are existing as well as the various tools that are available for botnet detection.
