An Empirical Study on Cybercrime Impacting People in Today's World

Cybercrime or computer crime is any crime that involves a computer and a network. The computer may have been used in the mandate of a crime, or it may be the target. Cyberspace is the environment in which communication occurs over the computer networks. And nearly everybody in one way or the other is connected to it. Cybercrime is not limited to computers alone. It also has to do with people. Cybercrime is committed with the help of computers and computer networks. Cybercriminals are available in dark web. To comprehend cybercrime, it is essential for us to understand its targets and victims. Cybercriminals are not easily recognizable as a group due to their different criminal activities and motives. This paper mainly focuses on the types of cybercrime, reasons for occurrence of cybercrime, preventive measures and usage of ML and AI techniques to predict and identify the cybercrime.
