Recherche Des Sources En Afrique Equatoriale

My discovery of African sources for modern Equatorial Africa began in 1965, and I went there for a dozen of years, exploring archival materials and, above all, African modes of living, thinking and acting. I arrived there only 5 years after independence and many things had not yet changed since colonial times. Practical conditions were not easy, especially out of great cities, then limited to Libreville in Gabon and Brazzaville in Congo. This immersion into such a new environment was a splendid experience.
