Quality Infrastructure for Conformity Assessment

The product supplied in the market, whether domestic or international, shall be of definite quality, as required by standards or regulations. Conformity assessment (CA) activity requirements ascertain this through the infrastructure available within any country. Quality infrastructure (QI) development is thus the need of any country for domestic or international trade. This chapter discusses various requirements for CA and QI for CA, with detailed emphasis on role played by CA on trade. The chapter also discusses the various organizations engaged in CA activities worldwide. In the end, the chapter concludes that whether QI for CA is well developed, it is the common consumer that avails the benefit of the quality of the product.
