Conformity Assessment in Indian Regulatory Ecosystem: Futuristic Challenges

The Indian regulatory ecosystem is quite different from other developing and developed economies in various manners due to its typical socioeconomic environment. It is unique and complex. In such a scenario, conformity assessment (i.e., a process carried out by a manufacturer to demonstrate that specific requirements relating to a product have been met) poses novel challenges. This chapter presents a comprehensive overview of the Indian conformity mechanism involving key entities and their dynamics and interlinks, their influence on the overall regulatory system, and their present and futuristic challenges.
