Preclinical Models for Cancer Research and Drug Development

Cancer is that devastating disease majorly contributes to the stress and well-being in the mankind. The traditional models utilized in the ‘cancer treatment’ continued to change and extended to enhanced preclinical studies. Cancer models, whether natural or man-made, have characteristics, at least in part, that are in common to human cancers. In order to study ‘human neoplasia’, the available experimental system includes lines of cancer cell as well as three-dimensional organoid models and organisms such as Drosophila melanogaster, zebrafish, and genetically engineered mouse model, pigs, patient-derived xenografts, and computational cancer models. Computer models generally provide better insights about molecular alteration in pathways related to diseases and can also enhance our understanding about the progression of disease and pharmaceutical responses with compliments. Due to economical, ethical, and welfare considerations, the separated cancer model whether in vitro or vivo or computational enables us to conduct impractical studies upon patients. Collection of information from both primary and permanent models and data provides feasible benefits to the patient and would also impact their well-being.
