This paper summarizes all of the most recent research on aquaponics, a cutting-edge technique that grows plants using the wastewater from aquaculture. Numerous sustainability concerns are addressed with aquaponics, including pollution, soil depletion, water shortages, and rising fertilizer costs. The scientific and commercial applications of aquaponics are expanding; however, a thorough analysis of the scientific literature is still lacking to identify the optimal system type, the horticultural issues that will arise most frequently, and the direction that aquaponic research should take. Aquaponics is a method of farming fish and plants that incorporates several ideas, such as the effective use of fertilizer, water, and other biological and ecological principles. For the successful production of fish and plants, system water chemistry and the availability and balance of nutrients are essential. Different configurations of systems may be built, such as unconnected configurations (also known as decoupled systems) and completely recirculating designs. Aquaponics places a strong emphasis on the use of methods that have positive effects on the environment, economy, biology, chemistry, and technology.
