Entering the Twenty-First Century with a New Attitude

Between the 14th and 16th CPC National Congresses, significant progress was made in two areas of reform and opening up. Firstly, the socialist market economy was created and enhanced, which represented major advancements in the theory and practice of scientific socialism. Secondly, the expansion of comprehensive opening up was achieved through China’s accession to the World Trade Organization. Additionally, the successful execution of the development strategy into the twenty-first century enabled the realization of the first two steps of the three-step strategy ahead of schedule, marking the beginning of a new journey towards a moderately prosperous society in all aspects for the Chinese people.
