Reform and Opening Up—A Great Awakening

The 3rd Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, held from December 18th to 22nd, 1978 at the Jingxi Hotel in Beijing, was a milestone in Chinese history that was characterized by “emancipating the mind, seeking truth from facts, uniting as one and looking to the future.” A pivotal turning point in post-1949 Chinese history, the Session unfolded a new era of reform and opening up as well as the construction of socialist modernization and launched the decisive new journey of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
