A Sustainability Index of Construction Projects

There may be unintended ecological impacts as a result of building initiatives. Roughly 25% of all pollutants in the air, 40% of all pollutants in the water, and 50% of all landfill waste may come from the building industry. The building industry might assist in achieving a number of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that the United Nations has set forth. The studies pinpoint the causes and effects that contribute to building in a sustainable manner. Multi-criteria decision-making tools, such as Shannon entropy and the CRITIC procedures, were used to establish how much emphasis should be placed on each of these criteria. In order to determine the long-term viability of building endeavors, the components discovered in the various projects were aggregated using a hierarchical evidential reasoning framework, with weights and magnitudes assigned to each element. Three examples were utilized to test the viability of the proposed framework. A statistical t-test and Bland–Altman plot were used to verify the proposed framework's findings, while face verification was used for verification. The finding indicated that there was no statistically significant variation between the computed weights of the various indicators. Experts were consulted to confirm the framework's usefulness, and their findings corroborated its potential for application in a variety of projects to evaluate its sustainability. Contractors and developers, among others, can use the proposed framework to improve the quality and consistency of their work by evaluating the sustainability of projects.
