Impression Evaluation of Chat Robot with Bodily Emotional Expression Incorporating Large-Scale Language Models

In nursing care facilities, it is important to encourage elderly people to speak in order to prevent dementia. However, it is difficult for family members and staff to always be close to and talk to the elderly. Along with this background, conversational robots that can encourage the elderly to speak are highly expected. Since humans utilize nonverbal information, including emotion expressions, to achieve smooth communication, in this paper we develop conversational robots that can express emotions, with the aim of encouraging elderly people to speak. We evaluate impression of the robot expressing emotion bodily based on pseudo-emotional parameters derived from generative AI such as ChatGPT.
