Point-of-Care-Guided Transfusion of Blood Products in ICU
摘要
This chapter explores the critical management of hemorrhage in intensive care unit (ICU) patients, emphasizing the transformative role of Point-of-Care (POC) diagnostic techniques. ICU patients frequently experience hemorrhages, significantly increasing morbidity and mortality rates. Traditional transfusion strategies involve monitoring coagulopathy, transfusing necessary blood products, and administering coagulation-supporting medications. However, conventional coagulation tests often provide incomplete diagnostic data and face delays that can impede timely intervention. This chapter introduces POC techniques, such as Thromboelastography (TEG) and Rotational Thromboelastometry (ROTEM), which offer rapid, real-time coagulation profiling. These methods enable early and precise adjustments to treatment plans, potentially reducing ICU hemorrhage-related complications. The benefits, limitations, and clinical implications of viscoelastic hemostatic assays in managing severe bleeding and improving outcomes in ICU settings are discussed comprehensively.
