Three-Phase Single-Stage AC-DC Converter of EV Charging System with Reduced Device Count

This paper proposes a three-phase single-stage bidirectional AC-DC converter based on the secondary side half-bridge structure. The introduced converter has a lower component count while maintaining the advantages of the DAB converter such as the ZVS condition. Moreover, the converter may be used with a longer life span due to electrotype capacitor-less. A simple modulation technique is employed with SPWM and phase shift control for regulating PFC and power transfer respectively; therefore, it is suitable in the industrial application fields. This further reduces the component of the converter. The modulation technique has a wide range with soft-switching, and low current THD, and shown to be simple to control. The effectiveness of this structure will be validated by PSIM with 4 kW, 220VAC, 260-400VDC, and the switching frequency fixed at 60 kHz.
