A Lightweight Group Authentication Framework for Blockchain-Enabled IoT Network in Healthcare Systems

The Internet-of-Medical-Things(IoMT) connects medical tools, software, and healthcare-information-systems(HIS) for remote nursing and distribution. In spite of IoMT's benefits for smart healthcare, its low computation, storage, and self-protection are causing security challenges. The key requirement for IoMT system security is device authentication. At present, the authentication techniques based on tamper-proof decentralized blockchain expertise are strong and secure, but they demand additional processing, storage, and authentication time. These limitations reduce scalability and temporal efficiency, which large-scale, time-sensitive IoMT systems need. This study presents a new IoMT System group authentication mechanism. There are four steps to the group authentication scheme: setup, registration, secret construction, and authentication. The proposed approach was simulated using Ethereum and Solidity, and its performance was tested using Hyperledger-Caliper. Simulations of the proposed framework indicated that authenticating IoMT tools had 0.5s latency and 400 transactions per second throughput. We found that the proposed framework beat other cutting-edge blockchain-based authentication methods in latency and throughput. The popular Automated-Validation-of-Internet-Security Protocols and Applications (AVISPA) tool was used to analyze the proposed framework's security.
