摘要

Biomarkers in the human body are molecules that indicate normal or disease processes and pharmacological responses to therapeutics. Noninvasive biomarkers are biomolecules that can be quickly and painlessly obtained from the body without invasive procedures. These molecules have the potential to provide valuable insights into a wide range of health conditions and can assist in the prediction, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. Noninvasive biomarkers can be found in easily accessible bodily fluids such as blood, urine, saliva, and breath and can be analyzed to provide important information about an individual’s health status. Using noninvasive biomarkers is becoming increasingly popular in clinical practice and research as it eliminates the need for invasive and potentially risky procedures such as biopsies. Noninvasive biomarkers are specifically valuable in clinical research. They can also be used in developing personalized medicine to help identify individuals at increased risk of developing certain diseases or who may benefit from specific treatments. This chapter will explore the noninvasive biomarkers produced in our body in response to physiological activity or disease. It will cover various noninvasive biomarkers such as genetic, epigenetic, protein, metabolic, digital, and other emerging biomarkers and further examines electrophysiological biomarkers as a subset of noninvasive markers, focusing on measurable signals derived from the body’s electrical activity. Understanding the role of electrophysiological biomarkers is essential for comprehensively exploring noninvasive diagnostic approaches. We will also explore their potential to revolutionize disease diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring by enabling earlier detection and better management of diseases.
