Conclusion: Advancing the Multigenerational Workplace in Theory and Practice
摘要
In this book, we have presented research to advance understanding of the ageing, multigenerational workforce in a way that has not been undertaken before. We have argued that inextricably linked to the analysis of ageing workforces is the feminising of the workforce and that the high propensity for unpaid careUnpaid care among both older, and female, workers places additional strain on these workers. Age, genderGender and care responsibilitiesCare/carerresponsibilities go hand in glove, yet most analyses of policies and practices do not treat them that way. It is, however, more important than ever to do so, and these themes have been woven together throughout our book in a way that is not typically available. In this closing chapter, we use the knowledge gained through our extensive and multifaceted research at the policy and organisational levels to inform a framework for advancing the multigenerational workplace in theory and practice. We show that to make the most of the multigenerational workforce, organisations need to aim to become both age-inclusive and gender-inclusive.
