Development of Biomimetic Materials by Additive Manufacturing

Nature has created innumerable living and non-living organisms that have adopted various strategies over many years to survive ever-changing external conditions and challenges. This chapter deals with the ingenious approach of mimicking these natural organisms in order to solve real-time problems in various fields of the biomedical industry. These structures were generally complex and required to be highly accurate, and hence, 3D printing techniques have been employed to fabricate. Numerous strategies involving 3D-printed biomimetic materials and structures, along with their usage, have been discussed for a wide range of applications. Lastly, this chapter concluded with an assessment of the advantages, limitations, and potential scope for future development in this field.
