Mechanical, Thermal, and Durability Properties of Demolition Waste Concrete: Epicenter to Thermal Insulating Material
摘要
The construction sector is a material-intensive industry. It requires a large amount of natural raw materials for its functioning. As per estimates, the demand for natural raw materials, especially aggregates, will reach 51 billion tons per year. This leads to the overexploitation of natural resources and the depletion of key raw materials. Therefore, to prevent the depletion of natural raw material and its overexploitation, the waste generated from the demolition activities is considered an alternative. However, to use the waste generated from demolition activities as a secondary source of raw materials, methods must be developed to obtain comparable mechanical, thermal and durable. Therefore, this paper summarizes the effort taken by various researchers to make demolition waste the suitable alternative to the natural raw materials. It also summarizes the factors affecting demolition waste-based construction material’s mechanical, thermal, and durability.
