A Review on Extensions of Bennett Linkages and the Simulation of the Linkages in MSC ADAMS

In this paper, we review Bennett linkage, a mobile overconstrained spatial four-bar mechanism. The paper further reviews three extensions of Bennett linkages, viz. (1) single-layer layout network of Bennett linkages, (2) multilayer network of Bennett linkages, and (3) connection of two similar Bennett linkages. All three assemblies stated above have a single degree of freedom. These assemblies can also be treated as deployable mechanisms. Furthermore, a simulation of Bennett linkages and its three extensions are made in the multi-body dynamics simulation software MSC ADAMS. To facilitate modeling in MSC ADAMS, a program in MATLAB is written to give the location of joints.
