Designing and Application of MATLAB App Designer for Conducting Techno-economic Analysis of Grid-Tied Rooftop Solar PV System

摘要

This paper focusses on techno-economic analysis of grid-tied rooftop solar photovoltaic system using MATLAB App Designer R2022a. Techno-economic analysis is done on a grid-tied rooftop solar photovoltaic system for a system capacity 5 kilo Watt peak, at Nagpur, India. The system capacity can be designed as per user’s requirement due to the customizable nature of the developed app. The technical analysis includes calculation of critical parameters like performance ratio, capacity utilization factor, and nine other technical parameters which are depicted through graphs on MATLAB App Designer. The economic analysis includes the calculation of parameters such as present worth factor, capital recovery factor, and levelized cost of electricity for a life time which came out to be 14.09, 0.07, ₹0.28 per kilo watt hour, respectively, by considering that maximum debt to equity ratio as 70:30 with loan on 8% interest. The equated monthly installment comes out to be ₹319.4 per month by using the app. The cash flow analysis for a case study has been carried out where 70% of generated units are exported while 30% of the units are imported from the grid using gross metering scheme. The payback period, internal rate of return, and net present values for gross metering case were 9 years, 11.11%, and ₹50,912.49, respectively. In this paper, techno-economic analysis of grid-tied rooftop solar photovoltaic system using MATLAB App Designer is proposed to create more awareness about the solar photovoltaic system before installing it.
