SPECDUINO—A Secondary Sensory Vision

Prior to the existence of Google Maps, or other similar online map providers, most people had a very difficult time navigating from one place to another. People with visual impairments, on the other hand, face a lot of problems when they try to navigate the outdoor. Although cutting-edge technologies have provided more applications for people with visual impairments to manage their daily lives, those applications take a long time. The authors are therefore proposing a Web application named ‘SPECDUINO’. The proposed Web application will detect real-time objects like vehicles, animals, and the road divider via the mobile camera and give a voice warning message. We used deep learning to detect objects, and API directions to assist in the transit on both small and large scale. The technology used in SPECDUINO enhances the overall functionality of the system and helps visual impairments to reach their destination more accurately.
