Russia–Syria Post-Conflict Cooperation in the Regional Context

  • Marina Sapronova

摘要

The chapter analyses Russia-Syria cooperation after the end of the main phase of counterterrorist operation. It considers Russian regional policy that is based on the tactics of “flexible” unions and assesses the role of other actors—Turkey, Iran and China—also demonstrating economic interests in Syria. These countries consider Syria to be an important element in emerging gas and oil trans-border logistics. At the same time, Syria itself is looking for a new model of building bilateral and multilateral relations not only in the Middle East but also in Eurasia.
