Computational Investigation of Mixing Characteristics on Exhaust Nozzle Using Tabs
摘要
This paper investigates the effectiveness of two different types of tabs namely nozzle having rectangular tab with semi-circle edge and rectangular tab with triangular edge in enhancing mixing. This study is carried out using ANSYS design modeler to model the nozzle and tab geometries. ANSYS Fluent is used to do computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations and the velocity magnitude contour plots are extracted from the resulting flow field at the nozzle exit. The centreline Mach number decay is also plotted for Mach number versus distance. The results of this work indicate that the nozzle having rectangular tab with semi-circle edge are more effective in enhancing mixing than the nozzle having rectangular tab with triangular edge. The semi-circular tabs generate stronger vortices and greater turbulence intensity, leading to more efficient mixing.
