Numerical Study of the Film Cooling with Micro Jets
摘要
This conjugate heat transfer study of film cooling with micro jets is an emerging field of study in turbine cooling techniques, keeping the reduced amount of coolant used for the cooling and the cost-effective operation of the turbine in consideration. This study aims to investigate how varying the blowing ratio (BR) influences the effectiveness of film cooling. An analysis of the flow mixing and how it relates to BR, which further influences film cooling, is also presented in the paper. The present study is undertaken using the two turbulent models, namely (i) the standard k–ε model and (ii) the realizable k–ε model for the blowing ratio (BR) = 0.2, 0.25, 0.6, 1.0, 1.4, and 2.0, and the results show that the lower BRs, 0.2 and 0.25, have the same result with small deviations and have the highest value of centerline film cooling effectiveness. Besides this, an effort has been made to unravel the mechanism of enhancement of micro jet film cooling.
