Comparative Study of Vapor Compression Refrigeration Cycles for Different Refrigerants: A Case of Thermal Contact Liquid Cooling System (R134a) Refrigeration Cycle: A MATLAB Simulation Analysis Approach

Simulation analysis of vapor compression cycles using different refrigerants is investigated. Coding is done in MATLAB R2013a. Refrigeration effects, volumetric efficiency, compressor work input, and COP are studied. Outputs for different refrigerants R12, R22, and R134a are shown in Figures. The study of these refrigerants is for applicability in industries. Theoretically study shows various outputs and effects of input variables for individual refrigerants. In present paper, an analysis for variations in compressor work, and enthalpy of the system on varying range of heat loads is also investigated. A case of thermal contact liquid cooling system R134a refrigeration cycle is investigated. All input parameters assumed for calculation are modeled in MATLAB code to find out the effects. It is seen that ambient temperature variations have significant effects on cooling cycle. Figure 1 represents the schematic diagram of refrigeration cycle using R134a, and Fig. 2 represents the schematic diagram of immersion cooling system. Investigated data is presented through Figs. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19. Refrigeration effects rises with rise of output; however, it declines when input rise for given range of temperature. It is noticed that ambient air temperature in the range of heat loads has significant effects on compressor work performance and enthalpy of the system.
