摘要

Sustainable development is currently recognised as a critical goal across the globe. The UN has identified several sustainable development goals that are aimed to cater to the socio, economic and environmental challenges of the global community. Electric Vehicles (EV) can contribute to the fulfilment of several SDGs like SDG7, SDG9, and SDG11 that deals with clean energy, innovation-infrastructure, and sustainable cities, respectively. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the electric vehicles as a sustainable transportation medium. The chapter covers a brief about the evolution of electric vehicle and delves into the promising prospects of EV in future. It also sheds light on the key challenges faced by EVs. Additionally, the chapter presents the pivotal role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in performance and efficiency enhancement of EVs. It also examines the contribution of Internet of Things (IoT) in smart and sustainable development in the EV domain. Furthermore, the synergistic integration of AI and the IoT is also uncovered to highlight and support sustainable mobility. Overall, the chapter provides a complete understanding of the interplay between AI, IoT, and EVs in achieving sustainable mobility. It displays how these technologies address current challenges and pave the way towards a cleaner, greener, and more efficient automobile landscape.
