摘要

Bone health and maintenance of bone integrity are important components of comprehensive cancer care in both early and late stages of prostate cancer. Metastatic prostate cancer can affect bone health in many ways: Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) induced osteoporosis, osteoblastic metastasis and cancer induced osteoporosis. Common complications due to bone metastases are Bone pains, Vertebral collapse or deformity, pathological fractures and oncological emergency like spinal cord compressions. Osteoporosis caused by ADT may also add to fracture risk and should be prevented. This chapter provides insight on pathophysiology of bone metastasis in prostate cancer and lays emphasis on bone health maintenance strategies.
