A Review of Anti-corrosion Technologies for Offshore Engineering Structures

Offshore engineering structures are expensive and require long-term service. In order to reduce maintenance costs and ensure the safety of steel structures, it is particularly important to do a good job in anti-corrosion work. This paper first studied the corrosion behavior of steel structures in the offshore environment and clarified the characteristics of each offshore corrosion zone. And then it summarized the anti-corrosion measures for different offshore corrosion zones. Finally, it analyzed the application status and advantages of several long-term anti-corrosion technologies, such as thermal spraying anti-corrosion technology, zinc plus protection technology and anti-corrosion sleeve technology. It is expected to provide an effective guarantee for the safe operation of offshore oil and gas production installations.
