Fatigue Damage Prediction of Subsea Piping: Review and Outlook

Subsea piping is essential for the safe and efficient operation of the subsea production system by transmitting submarine oil and gas and connecting various types of subsea structures during offshore production stage. However, due to the complexity of the marine environment and operating condition, this structure is prone to the damage caused by cumulative effects of fatigue. This paper presents a review and outlook of the methods of fatigue damage prediction for subsea piping. It begins with a complete overview of methods used to predict the fatigue damage of subsea piping components, including theoretical analysis, means of experiment, and numerical simulation. The status and development of such methods are described in detail, and recommendations for further perspectives are presented. The paper then discusses the current outlook for fatigue damage prediction of subsea piping, including the potential for advances in technology and the need for improved understanding of fatigue behavior. Finally, future research directions and potential applications of subsea piping fatigue damage prediction are explored.
