This chapter explores the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the analysis of images of the oral cavity for cancer detection. AI-driven technologies have revolutionized healthcare, particularly in the realm of medical imaging analysis. In the context of oral cavity cancer detection, AI systems leverage advanced algorithms to analyze digital images captured using smartphones or digital cameras. These images serve as visual records of the oral cavity, allowing clinicians to document suspicious lesions or abnormalities and monitor changes over time. AI-powered image analysis offers several advantages, including early detection of cancerous growth or progression and facilitating remote consultations with specialists. The chapter discusses key AI methodologies and strategies employed in image analysis for oral cavity cancer detection, such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs), deep learning models, and attention-based mechanisms.
