摘要

Dyes from dyeing industrial effluents cause serious threats to the environment. Hence, the removal of such pollutants should be of utmost interest. In this context ‘adsorption process’ plays a significant role. Although a plethora of research work on the mitigation of dyes from industrial wastes has been carried out across the world, the availability of literature on the use of oxide nano-materials synthesized from microorganisms for the removal of toxic dyes is lacking. Microbial synthesis of oxide nanoparticles (both magnetic and non-magnetic) is not only an environmentally benign and green process, but is also as significantly efficient as other conventional chemical methods. The unique properties exhibited by nanoparticles (NPs) are associated with their size and shape which can easily be fabricated as per the requirement making them specific for various applications. Through this chapter, an attempt has been made to provide collective information about the adsorption science involved during the uptake of toxic dyes by biosynthesized oxide nanoparticles.
