Modernist Art, Intellectual Trends, and Encounters
摘要
The Chinese artists who studied abroad also felt the surging modernist trends in Europe at that time, so they also brought modernist ideas and styles back to China. Liu Haisu, Yan Wenliang, and Pang Xunqin are representative artists of the modernist trend, and groups such as the “Storm Society” and the China Independent Art Association became important forces in promoting the concept of modernism. Artists like Lin Fengmian very clearly proposed the artistic concept of integrating East and West. However, the invasion of the Japanese army interrupted the development of modern art in China.
