The Artistic Environment and the Political System in the New Century
摘要
China’s market economy has developed significantly with the help of China’s accession to the WTO, which provided new possibilities for the ecology of contemporary art. The Shanghai Biennale began to be the beginning of official adaptation to the rules of the international art world, and a number of other cities began to hold exhibitions outside the purview of the China Artists Association. With the gradual increase in the number of galleries, auction houses, and art fairs, coupled with the development of various urban art districts and the emergence of art spaces and private art museums, an art ecology and system suitable for a market economy and society assumed a preliminary outline, which formed a sharp contrast with the official art system, echoing the difference between a market economy and a planned economy.
