Conceptual Art in the 1990s
摘要
Western contemporary art began to influence Chinese artists in the 1980s, but it was only in the second half of the 1990s that Chinese artists began to use any material and method to engage in artistic creation completely freely, using a variety of media and methods in experimental art, body art, installation art, mixed media, video art, and conceptual photography. Due to China’s special national conditions, the concepts expressed in different forms of art still had the particularity of reflecting China’s reality, though the grand narrative had weakened significantly and the tendencies of micro narrative had become increasingly obvious.
