The Emergence of Problems in the Market
摘要
In 1992, Deng Xiaoping’s speech on his southern tour led to the full take-off of China’s market economy, and the “Guangzhou. The First 1990s’ Biennial Art Fair (The Oil Painting Section)” Guangzhou Biennale) in that year directly triggered the discussion of art going to the market, and deeply influenced the future exhibiting and operational modes of Chinese contemporary art. Under the influence of the market concept, people began to accept the idea of a relationship between art and money. In 1993, some Chinese artists participated in the “Post-89 Chinese New Art” exhibition in Hong Kong and in the Venice Biennale, which means that in the context of the market economy, art has also participated in the trend of globalization, and contemporary art emerged as an alternative to modernism.
